Musical Fidelity’s M3scd CD player has been designed to give outstanding CD reproduction and to be a digital hub. If it just did an outstanding job coaxing superior performance from CDs, it would earn its keep. But this little gem is far more than a CD player. In a joint review of the Musical

Review By Andrew Everard Never let it be said that Musical Fidelity is behind the curve when it comes to developing new products: in fact, the company has something of a track record for anticipating trends, not to mention attempting to start trends of its own.

The Musical Fidelity trio pass with flying colours. What doesn’t strike you at first but slowly burns into your brain in a wholly positive manner is the coherence. Not in a Mantovani ‘cascading strings’ sound, but where the instrument’s tonal palette is accurate across its range.

It’s what Musical Fidelity has always done well, with designs like the A300 integrated of a decade ago – a powerhouse that delivers and is cheap relative to the performance it delivers. So here’s the challenge to Musical Fidelity on the M6i – don’t change nothin’.

Musical Fidelity states that the M1 ViNL is “the perfect way to connect your record deck with supreme musical quality”. The first concept in all this lies in the “connect” your record player. As already mentioned in the first lines of this review, there is a big difference between a plain electrical connection and truly matching your

Musical Fidelity’s known for making affordably priced boutique audio gear in which the focus is more on solid engineering than on fancy cosmetics and exotic technology. It’s fitting that the MF-100 over-ear headphone isn’t flashy or technologically dazzling — or all that terribly expensive.

For my tastes, Musical Fidelity gear was getting rather garish for a while. But this is not the case with the highly finished yet more conservatively styled A5 components. At 36.6 lbs, the A5 integrated amplifier is a traditionally handsome piece.

Musical Fidelity has a strong and well-respected name within the high-end audio scene. Recently they have been pushing into the portable hifi market and their first entries, both in-ear designs and headphones were well received.

I originally requested Musical Fidelity’s A3 CR preamplifier for review because I thought it might be interesting to play with. Antony Michaelson, Musical Fidelity’s spiritual and temporal director, was making pretty serious claims about it, after all.

According to Musical Fidelity, the idea was to produce a “non-temperamental, bomb-proof” amplifier capable of delivering high power and sound quality comparable to those of the limited-edition Nu-Vista M3 integrated stereo amplifier, which I reviewed for Stereophile in February 2001. The M250’s circuit is the same as the amplifier section of

The Musical Fidelity EB-33 in-ear headphones are stylish and offer a strong performance which more than matches their value. The headphones look quite large, but fit comfortably and deeply inside

For this review, I replaced my office system’s NuForce Icon integrated amplifier ($179) with the V90-AMP. The V90 was quickly recognized by my Hewlett-Packard computer and a driver loaded. The other source was a Sony CDP-CE375 CD changer, linked to the Musical Fidelity via its analog outputs.

Musical Fidelity has managed to combine the grunt of a 250-watt beast with the gentle sweetness of a sensitive, 25-watt, Class A flower. The result is musical mastery.

The Musical Fidelity A308 presented instruments just slightly back from the plane of the speakers, in a manner that very subtly enhanced the feeling of depth and spaciousness. Those images were clearly delineated, precisely placed in musical space, and absolutely grand in scale.

Finding musical satisfaction away from one’s main system is a hit-and-miss proposition. The combination of Musical Fidelity’s V90-AMP and V90-DAC makes that time more pleasant. The V90-AMP, with its modest 20 wpc when paired with reasonably efficient speakers, creates …

Musical Fidelity M3SCD is a popular option at the top of the price range. It’s in the top 3 bestselling CD players and has quite a few popular alternatives in the same price range, such as Cambridge Azur 851C or Creek Evolution 50CD. Musical Fidelity M3SCD is $1324.10 more expensive than the average CD player ($174.99).

Musical Fideity’s M6 Encore Connect is a ripper, streamer and preamplifier all in one handy, if substantial box. It costs £3629 and Lionel Payne hooked it up to his system to see if it came up to scratch. “The Musical Fidelity M6 Encore Connect Multi Format Audio Streamer is quite a mouthful!

Apr 18, 2011 · I never wanted to see the day when I had to choose between these two amps. But since I am now forced to have only one system, I must now do extensive testing and listening to the two in order to see who will stay in a combined ht and two channel set up, and who will go.

Musical Fidelity claims that all incoming data is processed in the DSD domain, but neither the SRC4392 sample rate converter nor the PCM1795 DAC chip changes PCM to DSD, so my guess is that it would have been correct to state that PCM and DSD are processed within the same converter, but only as is.

Meanwhile, my Musical Fidelity P2sounds terrific into my . However, I won’t be buying any more Musical Fidelity gear. Mar 09, 2018 · This week, Tom reviews the Musical Fidelity M3si Integrated Amplifier, with a demonstration using last week’s Monitor 200 floor standing speakers.

Description. The Musical Fidelity M2si integrated amplifier takes our peerless premiumamp experience and applies it to a more affordable price point.

Months later came a review that left a lasting impression. Musical Fidelity’s M3 Nu-Vista integrated amplifier was an overbuilt, two-box beast in beautiful aluminum (except for that ostentatious gold) that allied military-spec vacuum tubes with a solid-state output stage to produce 275Wpc.

Aug 01, 2008 · Basically these are superb sounding old beasts. Very heavy, very hot running(so do be prepared for both the heat and the electricity bill). There have been problems with both output stages and caps but AFAIK these can be repaired and Musical Fidelity may be worth a call for that beforehand.

Musical Fidelity has gone back to basics with its new, affordable M3 Series. Ed Selley test-drives the ‘engine’ behind the new range. Over the last fifteen years, Musical Fidelity products have literally come in all shapes and sizes.

When Diane Schurr sings “Reverend Lee”, the Musical Fidelity’s low noise floor means that one can clearly hear the vocal reverberations as they reflect off at least three walls in the studio. Convincing! Percussion, which is very important on this modern jazz disc, was punchy and lightning quick.

But I really couldn’t review a Musical Fidelity amplifier without recourse to the company’s own recordings, and Antony Michaelson’s new disc of Brahms Clarinet Sonatas (accompanied by Ingrid Jacoby), sounds quite delightful via the CD7/A308 and FBIs.

Musical Fidelity has loyal customers worldwide are known as digital pioneers, while garnering quite a reputation for their integrated amplifiers, among other things. I know folks with fifteen-year-old Musical Fidelity amps still going strong with daily use.
